It says
| Quote: | | Correspondents say that her unbeatable name recognition and unmatched fundraising ability make her a clear front runner for the Democrats. |
I wouldn't say her name recognition is anything to boast about other than standing firm beside her husband who *never had*...................... |

| Even with her Liberal faults, she is a far better prospect than the present murderous regime. |

Actually Ef, the destruction of the British coal industry was assured by global market forces. The coal union didn't like the writing on the wall and started to flex it's muscles in such a way which was damaging to the UK. That's when She stepped in and destroyed the union not the industry, that was doomed without her intervention. _________________ ".... love thy neighbour as thyself." is the hardest thing I have ever done.... |

Living right in the middle of a mining area (at that time, it's not anymore ) I saw and heard several sides to this.
At one local pit, the miners were quite militant and willing to strike, at another they were more moderate.
MT used these miners against each other.
The moderate miners were promised their jobs would be safe if they worked. The conditions were such (down the mine) that if it had been left unworked for even a shortish length of time, the mine would've been unworkable anyway, so the miners kept working, suffering everytime they went for a shift, at the hands of strikers, both local and those bussed in by Scargill.
This mine still closed along with all the rest with the loss of jobs and millions of ££££ of machinery that couldn't be taken out. It also meant loss of face for the party that promised these men would keep their jobs.
The area I live in still bares the scars and wounds. _________________ God put me on this earth to do a number of things.

As i say Elaine the Tory party destroyed an industry for a political point.
The Tories of the Eighties cared only about money and the domination of the workers by private industry. The people at the top never suffered personal discomfort because of two rescessions. Many of the ills of society here can be laid at the blame of the selfish look after number 1 mantra of thatchers government |
