Birthdays

There is a JW in our sectin and she has strange ideas on birthdays - does not celebreate them - as she is told not too - presumably by the watchtower

Feels that birthdays and esp Christmas and Easter are pagan as they are based on pagan festivals

I did outline that Christmas and Eastere were established by the early church and that Christians had Christian festivals on the same day as pagan ones to give an alternative to them - A lot of churches have hallejuah parties on the same day as Halloween to give an alternatvie so that children dont feel pressured to conform to the world and celebrate halloween

This was not recived and denied

I then outlined that early church apologists such as Justin Martyr spoke to the people at the time and said - "We are but of yesterday, we have taken your festivals and palaces and have made them out own - " IN other words we have plundered your territary and made it Christain -

The response was ...and so

You see they sem brainwashed into beliving what they are told to belive by the watchower society

When I was speaking to her and in once conversation - said - the answer is in the question - using her argument against her - in that using what the WTS do - She denied that as well

She is adamant in her beliefs and maybe sincere but sincerely wrong

I also asked why did the JWS split the infinitive in John chapter 1.1 In the begining was the word and the word was with God and the word was God, The same was in the begining with God

I asked why they split the infinitive and mistranslated 'ho logs' and changed its meaning from THE WORD to A word. Thus chanigng the meaning and denying Christs deity - Chaning from a monotheistic faith to a polytheistic faith

This was denied -

To change from THE WORD - HO LOGOS - TO A WORD changes the meaning completely suggestes that there are many Gods and not just The word - One God

This was denied

So even when the evidence is presented to them - They deny it

The French in their translation of the New Testament - Tranlate his only son in Jn 3.16 as son fis unique - Only to Uniquie is a litt translation - but it seems to get a wee bit nearer to the truth in that saying that Jesus was the unique son of God - the only one - not one of many

The JWs split the infinitive in their translation and turn Christiantiy into a polytheism
