I've started a new thread just to try and keep topics in right places, hope no one minds, but I started this one because of a question that steadfast asked:

Quote:
But these people clearly believe that Jesus died for their sins.
So what part of the Gospel is false.?

In fact the gospel of the Jehovah's Witnesses is very different in many ways. Even a man who left the Jehovah's Witnesses years ago after getting saved could say: "'The Witnesses' wive of the atonement is very different from that held by orthodoxy and in essence is a rejection of that Biblical doctrine." -- Edmund Gruss 'Apostles of Denial" p. 90

The Jehovah's Witnesses will teach as well that Christ's death for our sins was only secondary. His main purpose was to basically win a bet between God and Satan.

"His primary purpose was to vidicate and establish Jehovah's Kingdom...Afater Adam disobeyed God, Satan challenged God to put a creature on earth who could expierience all the temptations Satan could give and still remain faithful to God until death...The burden fell upon His first created beign, His son, Michael the archangel....Jehovah's Witnesses claim Jesus also had a secondary purpose in being here. He came to sacrifice his human body as a randsom to God for Adam's sin" 1

There's so much wrong with that quote and I find it extremely blasphemous, but will let others decide.

The Jehovah's Witnesses also believe that the atonement of Christ was not sufficient, that people still have to do good works and also that His death did not forgive certain types of sins. One example they give is Adam, because he willfully sinned 2

Another quote by the JWs is: "under the law the deliberate murderer could not be ransomed. Adam, by his willful course, brought death on all mankind, hence was a murderer" (r. 5:12). "Thus the sacrificed life of jesus is not acceptable to God as a ransom for the sinner Adam." 3

They also did not recognize it was God Himself taking our place. "If Jesus, when he was baptized at thirty years of age, but had bee a so-called God-man...he woudl have been superhuman and would have had more value than a ransom for all mankind. The perfect justice of God would nto unjustly accept more value than that of a thing to be ransomed." 3

For one to get to heaven they must have a complete dependance on Christ alone, regardless of what a JW may say to someone to get their attention at the door, this is not what they believe. Christ's death was only something for them to build on, they have to work to attain salvation 4

Sorry for making this so long, but the Jehovah's Witness do not honestly believe that Christ's death is enough to forgive and save us from hell. The fact is they don't believe in hell, and neither do they believe that Jesus was and is God. Which for one to call into denial the deity of Christ, also calls into doubt they are saved or can be saved while believing that.

Anyhow much could be said, but will stop now..

Joh 20:31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Col 2:9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

"Thirty Years a Watchtower Slave" is worth reading.

I guess I did get a bit long winded eh? Icon_biggrin

It would seem the part they have messed up is the fact that they do not believe Christ's death is enough. I personally think that one of the largest problems though with their "gospel" is that they don't know who Christ is.
