I'm of to church in another 15 minutes, it's a Baptist church (not that i'm saying this is the 100% correct church) here is the URL to it
http://www.cbaptist.org.uk/
I thought it may be good to see our churches and say a bit about them good or bad, and maybe mention what you would see as ''the perfect church'' knowing that it's almost impossible to find.
Do you think a pastor is essential if their are men who are gifted in preaching/teaching in the congregation?
Would you say a woman preacher is right?
your thoughts would be good |

Remarkable CG, I can't think how many times I must have walked past your church! (didn't go in I'm afraid )
In fact, on the map of your church, I used to live on Stanley Avenue (just off Dickenson Rd.) Platt fields park is very nice for a stroll or game of football. I went jogging there once at dusk though and got a firecracker thrown at me

I look in on it and read a bit from time to time.
It was publicised in Baptist Times. _________________ The effectiveness of a posting is inversely proportional to its length.

I'm not really strict Baptist, it's just that the church i now go to believed in the same things as I do so it made it very easy for me to join.
There are a lot of differances now in the ''Baptist Churches'' doctrinaly. |

Yes right, I forgot about that (the subject of the thread)! :icon_rolleyes:
The church in my hometown parish doesn't have a website, but is listed here:
http://www.orthodoxengland.btinternet.co.uk/direct.htm
it's in Chesterfield.
However I only visit my hometown once a year now, as I live in China (near Beijing). Here there is no Orthodox church that I can attend as it is illegal. Therefore I don't attend any churches. I do have attend fellowships and Bible studies however, which are small and held in people's houses.
I was blessed enough recently to be able to travel to Hong Kong where there is an Orthodox presence. I visited the church there (on the 7th floor of an office block!) and talked with the priest here. I also attended a Catholic morning mass the day before I flew back to Beijing and recieved a blessing from him (I didn't want to eat the consecrated host in a catholic church).
I believe that each church is part of Christ's universal church, which is perfect. I do also believe however, that where one church has the correct doctorine and way of worshipping, then it can be called "The Church" so as not to detract from it by calling it a part.
May God bless you |

God Bless you Theo, our little church (which has only around 15 in fellowship) supports a young missionary girl in China, we have to be careful even in writing a card to her not to let people find out she is a Christian. Some say China has opened up to Christians but this missionary girl we support finds it very very difficult. |

Yes, the danger comes from the unpredictability. Laws can be applied differently depending on the location (in the countryside it is particularly common for Christians to suffer persecution, also the south tends to be worse than the north). Also local authorities can decide to have a "purge" at any time, merely on a whim, and decide to break up churches, even after seemingly tolerating them previously. _________________ ICXC NIKA! |

How fortunate we are.
It is so sad for those who do not have the freedom that we do, yet, we sometimes do forget the great suffering of our other brothers and sisters, who Love the Lord our God so much.
Bless you Theo |
