Do you feel he is stepping down because of his involvement with Iran/Iraq?
Has this caused more hard feelings about the U.S.?

Nancy it is all to do with an agreement that Blair and Brown had years ago that if Brown did not appose Blair then once Blair got power he would hand over to Brown, or something like that.

Not at all Nancy. What crystal wrote is quite correct but Blair has had (and deliberately not taken?) earlier opportunities to stand down. Personally I think he should have gone sooner, even before the invasion of Iraq which is what he will now primarily be remembered for.

So then, can anyone tell me why he feels it necessary to leave the office of PM?
How will it affect people when he does?

He feels it necessary as the agreement with Brown was that Blair would hand over the PM job. He should have gone a while ago but I think that pressure has been put on him to go to honour this agreement.

Personally I'm glad he's going, I never did like the man or his policies. However if Brown takes over I don't think much will change.
I was born and brought up in a die hard labour household, my dad being a fully paid up member of the local labour party and union member, but I tell you what if my parents were alive today there is no way they would vote labour.

Like you Janie I was brought up in a staunch labour household but my mother (78 years young) detests the man and his policies.
While I am not keen on labour per se, and I should be so uncharitable but I dislike the man himself immensely. When he is speaking I cannot stand this affliction he has for pausing every sentence. It drives me bananas.

Not at all Icon_1435 IHO he was absolutely right in everything he did, apart from admitting minor mistakes where he was found out.

He is going before he is utterly disgraced by the various misdemeanors listed above, in order to make money in America from being the faithful supporter of American presidential policies. He needs money to finance his & his wife's extravagances in prestigious house purchases.

And, faithful Labour supporters, don't hold your breath as you wait to benefit from his expected income. You've already been robbed of your pensions by Brown's fiscal policies.
