I thought as it was coming up to Easter we could look at the man Christ Jesus, what makes this man so special and what makes Him so special today to all of us who love Him.
I think the biggest surprise (if i can say that) about Jesus (to me) was when I realised He was fully man and fully God. When it sunk in it really filled me with a kind of wonderment to think A Man could have all the attributes of God yet live on this earth, be Tortured and put to death yet do nothing wrong at all ever

Any more thoughts?

It has always interested me to wonder how much of the divine knowledge He possessed and how much He left behind in heaven.

He knew power had gone out of Him, but He asks who touched Him.

He says that He doesn't know things that the Father knows.

He laid aside His majesty and with it a lot of divine transcendance, knowledge, power etc.

Amazing that it was for us, isn't it.

A riddle that is very much at the heart of the Incarnation - Our God contracted to a span, Incomprehensibly made man.

Is it only that he did not know or did he want the woman to make herself public to endorse her faith in Him?

Affirmation that although he is himself God he is not the Father (nor the Spirit). A crucial part of the Trinity

Yes it's amazing, without the cross there is no hope. Our Hope is than in Christ Jesus death and resurrection we have a Hope that is beyond all other.
In contrast to Christ and His suffering, to fully know who He is Revelation gives us a look at the Christ who will not come back as the suffering servant but will come back as King of Kings
The names of Christ that I love
Revelation chapter 19
11I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white horse, whose rider is called Faithful and True. With justice he judges and makes war. 12His eyes are like blazing fire, and on his head are many crowns. He has a name written on him that no one knows but he himself. 13He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and his name is the Word of God. 14The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean. 15Out of his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations. "He will rule them with an iron scepter."[a] He treads the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God Almighty. 16On his robe and on his thigh he has this name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

How Awesome to Know that God the Father stooped Low, For US.

He became Fully man, For US.

He Died the worst Type of death For US.

He left His Holy Spirit, For US.

He IS Coming Back for US.

Glory and Honour, Praise His Holy Name.

JESUS NAME ABOVE ALL NAMES.

When Jesus asked who touched Him, it wasn't that He didn't know - it was for the benefit of the lady concerned, so that she would completely know that she was healed permanently and saved from her sin.

We get that pattern in Genesis 4. God asks Cain "Where is your brother, Abel?", yet in the subsequent verses He shows that He knows that Abel is dead. God, in His mercy, was offering Cain the opportunity to repent and be forgiven. I believe there will be (former) murderers in heaven, who have repented. Sadly, in the case of Cain, he did not respond to God's calling, and therefore left God's presence.

Similarly, Jesus asked the womab at the well, "Go fetch your husband". Yet He knew that the woman had had five husbands and was now living in sin with another man. But He got her attention through the question that went to the heart of her situation.

For the same reasons, God wants us to pray, even though He knows what we will ask for. It is for our benefit.

Yes I appreciate what you are saying Paul.

My speculation was related to how much Jesus laid aside His power, majesty, omniscience, etc.

I believe praying brings us closer to God,to rely upon Him alone and not ourselves.Acknowledging that He is God,thanking Him for everything.Praising Him alone and not ourselves,Humility, childlike devotion and trust.

I have heard some say we need to pray Intelligently, but I can;t say that is how I pray, very often I can't express what I mean.

Jesus taught us how to pray. The Lords prayer .OUR FATHER for he is just that, and knows all about us,and knows our every need. Icon_th_6
