But do Christians fight for Israel or pray and help evangelise ?
The early NT church did not become political .
MLJ says that came later when the RCC became organised, then the reformers seeing some things were wrong tried to change things Luther had no intention of leaving the RCC,just wanted changes. because he saw they had gone over to the same things the Jewish Pharisees had been guilty of works/traditions.hierarchy.
Later the reformers made mistakes and so on until our presesnt day and every time God raises up others to provoke to jealousy .
I have been reading Romans 9,10.11 today using NRSV
Remnant chosen by Grace
Romans 11:6
Paul goes on to say how we should not boast it is not us who support the root but the root supports us.If the root is Holy then the branches also are holy they SHARE the rich root of the Olive tree .
25 a hardening has come upon part of Israel ,until the full number of the Gentiles has come in |

It is God who will bring about all the necessary changes for Israel to come to belief in the Lord.Christians in Israel need help as well as Christians all over the world.
We focus on Christ first.Israel has a part tp play ,but are still in unbelief at this time,How will their conversion come about?
I think it is as MLJ says a fresh breeze of the Holy Spirit. |

Thanks Elaine,
I must admit that i have never really got my thinking straight re the Israel issue. I have read so much on both sides of the issue. What i do find disturbing is that `Israel` has become a kind of litmus test amongst some christians.
I have been told that unless i offer complete support to Israel then i will be cursed by God. And then there are those who see `Israel`as a godless irrelevance.
I have a jewish back-ground but grew up steeped in Irish-catholism. When i was saved i became a child of God. Surely our desire is to see people saved, whatever thier Nationality or background.
Whatever our understanding of `Israel` we are brothers and sisters in Christ. _________________ One thing i do know.I was blind but now i see. |

Thousands of Christians don't understand everything, not just about Israel.
But they understand the main things about Jesus,Salvation, etc:
Seems to me that some Christians just focus on the NT,In the NT I can see clearly the Apostles teaching on New Heavens and New earth.
OT prophecies point us to Jesus, salvation and the Kingdom .
I think we have to use all the Bible to see what is meant.
That was why I started the other thread about Prophecies about Jesus and their fullfillment. As Jws we said there were around 300 ?
Anti-semitism is awful, and lots of people have to answer for this.
Persecutions everywhere are awful ,just look on Release International, Open Doors. They are also God's people.
I have been reading Deuteronomy 28-30.Blessings for obedience, warnings against disobedience.
Anyone?? |

| Quote: | 3. Knesset considers bill outlawing all evangelism
Israel currently bans evangelism of minors and offering money or goods as incentive for religious conversion. Now the Shas party (the third-largest party in the Knesset, tied with Likud) wants to ban all "proselytism" in the country, YNet News reports. "Whether it's Christians coming from abroad or Jewish converts working in Israel, they all have the same agenda — to destroy every trace and memory of the people of Israel, and they plan to do this by converting Jews," says a proposal by MK Yakov Margi. "There is no choice but to adopt the rules applying to forbidding proselytism among minors, for all matter relating to adults as well. In other words, completely forbidding preaching and proselytism." |

It's a tough thing, being an Evangelist in Israel. As a Messianic Jew, I am regarded as a "former Jew" by many within the Orthodox Communities.
This is a bit painful at times, as I am probably more Observant than most Jewish people whom I know! We keep Shabbes, have a Kosher kitchen &c. But, then, I also appreciate that what I do is deeply offensive to the vast majority of my extended Jewish family.
Hey-Ho.
Just remember that when Yeshua said "I am the Way. . ." He was talking to Jewish people |

Adrian, has Yakov Margi made any progress? Why do they think accepting Jesus as Messiah means ceasing to be a Jew? _________________ May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will ...
