Jesus was asked 183 questions in the four Gospels.

He only answered three of them with a direct answer to the question.

Jesus asked 307 questions in the four Gosepels

In answer to the first point, perhaps there aren't very many black-and-white answers?

In answer to point two, perhaps we wants us all to think a bit ourselves.

This would make for a good discussion topic.

Surely there are two (implicit) questions for discussion already:

Why did Jesus answer questions so (apparently) cryptically?

Why did Jesus ask so many questions to other people?

.. and why did he not finish his stories?

Did the elder brother join the party?

Did those discouraged from following come & follow after all?

Why is every promise in Scripture "Yes & Amen?"

I believe,

1,because He didnt need to finish the stories, they are there to show us that it wasn't about "The brother" but his attitude towards the bother that had gone into the world, now returned and how his father rejoyced, just like our Father rejoyces when we return to His fold.

2, This one is free will, its for us to decide.

3, We believe The Promise, so we cannot say No! thats faith, isnt it.

Just my thoughts.
