I bought some ostrich steaks recently. They were very nice. _________________ The effectiveness of a posting is inversely proportional to its length.

A few years ago we had an Australian restaurant open in Bradford. They did kangaroo, alligator, wallaby etc.... allegedly. It didn't last long.... _________________ ".... love thy neighbour as thyself." is the hardest thing I have ever done.... |

I find it amusing how we say that some animals are good to eat and others are not. It is not as if we are following some sort of religious law but down to if we normally eat them. After all if we are happy to eat beef then why not horse? We eat lamb and chickens and rabbit but not alligator, or wallaby, or even guinea pig.
When you think about it all animal flesh is meat is it not?
How many of us have in the past eaten something and only thought YUK when we found out what it was? |

Because I have a Choice, I choose not to eat Guinea Pig, Wallaby, Kangaroo or Rabbit.
Yet if I was starving, I would eat most things Im sure. _________________ http://crying-out-loud.com/forum/YaBB.pl |

I have a distant relative who was shipwrecked and spent weeks in a lifeboat...................................They ate the cabin boy. I kid you not.
Remember those people who survived a plane crash and ate some of the dead bodies. Who knows what one would eat if they were starving.

There's an Llama farm just up the road from where my parents live, and here in Winnipeg there are adverts on TV encouraging people to take up Alpaca farming.
I know that both animals are kept for their wool, but I think that their milk and meat is also used. (Alpaca cheese, anyone?!) _________________ Penguin-powered |
