| Does anyone know if it is possible to edit a photograph taken on a digital camera so that the colour image can be turned into a black and white one? My more-technical-than-me daughter has worked out that we (or rather she) can tweak a picture so that it looks older but that's more sepia tinting and what I want to do is actually render a colour image as a monochrome one without having to use a black and white film in my 35mm camera. |

Photoshop has a facility for doing this. _________________ The effectiveness of a posting is inversely proportional to its length.

| Is that something I can buy/download or is it something likely to be part of the camera's accompanying software? |

Loooks as if Gimp is better as Photoshop as used professionally is expensive and the Photoshop Elements I use is about £40 (I think) _________________ The effectiveness of a posting is inversely proportional to its length.
