I have been on medication to help my stop smoking. It seems a bit too much for my system to handle(my brain at any rate) even tho I've cut the dosage in half.
I've cut way down in my habit, but would like to quit all together.
The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, so could you all say a little prayer to God for me that I might be able to quit once+for all?
Thank you _________________ You O Lord are the potter, I am the clay, the work of Your hands. |

Thank you all for your prayers. Can't take that particular med any longer as I can't handle the side effects. I'm sure God will show me another way. With His help going "cold turkey" may not be too bad. _________________ You O Lord are the potter, I am the clay, the work of Your hands. |

I didn't know you could be prescribed medication to help you stop smoking actually, Nancy. I know about things like Nicotine chewing gum and patches etc but I don't believe they have side effects.
I think it is very hard to give up smoking. My giving up at 57 is a miracle and nothing to do with me really except that I obviously knew I had to (I had known this before but it was different somehow this time) and I co-operated - in the past I think I had kicked against anything that was supposed to help me, I was almost saying I wasn't going to be beaten by a chewing gum or whatever! Sounds silly of course but a hardened smoker will probably understand what I mean. Smoking becomes so much part of your personality and even though you want to give it up, something inside is saying, "Why shouldn't I smoke if I want to?"
I will pray for a miracle for you. It's a wonderful and strange feeling to be free of the addiction but I am not complacent about it because it is, frankly, a miracle. _________________ Vix |
