A special bond has been forged between UK Prime Minister Tony Blair and the Rev Ian Paisley, the leader of the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) by discussing their common interest in Christianity, reports the Guardian newspaper. Spearheading a government charm offensive to win round the Presbyterian firebrand who is pivotal to the Northern Ireland peace process, the two men have reportedly been swapping religious textbooks over the past year.

Incidently I have just discovered we have a special interest in the Free Presbyterians, as 2 of our church are involved with them. One even travelled from London to Tavistock (400 miles round trip) to preach on a normal Lord's day.

As a closet RC married to an RC it must be difficult for Tony.

I thought it was against the constitution for a Roman Catholic to be Prime Minister, i don't think there has been one since the reformation infact Tony probably is a closet first Icon_biggrin

It isn't against the law (I think) for the pm, only not possible for a RC to be sovereign.
