Hi Guys I have decided to join you guys on this forum. I was on RTV until Howard closed it down. Having looked at the member list I know some of you people. My wife Nichola has been a member for awhile I think she is number 9 on the list.
Well some of you may remember me, my name is Paul Harley I live in Belfast. I have traveled to Israel twice with RTV once in 2004 and the again the following year. I met some great people- Mike Dickinson, Chrissie (who is now with Jesus) and I met a lady Georgie who I have not seen since Israel. I know AndyP and I have discussed issues with him on RTV.
I was born a Catholic and even wanted to be a priest but GOD told me NO!! I am now a born again Christian and I believe in one person now that is Jesus (I will only look to him ONLY now) although it was not always like this (sorry Lord)
I remember alot of arguing went on in RTV. I will not get involved on arguing on this forum. I will give my opinions in a gentle way and I ask that people will respect my views. I don`t claim to have the answers far from it, I am a three year old christian and I am still getting it wrong every day But I will fight on!
Guys I hope you are all well and I hope to speak and even meet some of you in the furture( GOD willing of course) |

Hi pjos11,
Welcome to the forum,
Like you i was once thought to be `Priest` material. I was supposed to have the `Vocation`. God had other plans and in any case i did not fancy the `celibate` idea . I was born in Tipperary, large Catholic family. I have lived most of my life in Manchester.
Are you from Belfast?.

I see that Nenagh is not to far from Tipperary Town. We will be visiting Tipperary town one of the days we are away. Also Lough Derg I have fished here (well tryed)
Can I ask? Did you leave the Catholic Church? Not to be nosy but I have not spoke to many Catholics on my conversion and it is always a help to gain knowledge of others experiences. _________________ When I try to keep my eyes on Jesus. Satan always trys to block my view. |

Paul, the fish in Loughh Derg jump out of the water into your hands, you must have caught some.
Yes i did leave the Catholic Church. Much to the horror of my family i joined the Jehovahs witnesses. I became convinced they had the truth. I knew nothing about the bible so was unable to defend my beliefs as a catholic. I invited my priest to come and show them that they were wrong. Well he was not much help, did not even bring a bible and i was even more convinced that they were corect. My wife also became a witness and we spent over ten years as zealous Jws.
Its a long story but in time God opened our eyes to the truth. We came to see the Watchtower as a false prophet organisation. We came to faith in Jesus alone as the way of salvation.
After i was saved i could not return to the Catholic church. I have difficulty with the claims of the Catholic church and dont accept a number of doctrines.
I have no problem with catholic people, all my family are catholic and i have many friends who are likewise. I am not as anti as some of our bretheren in Ireland.
By the way one od my sons and his cousin hooked a pike in Lough Derg....it was so big they had to shoot it
Keep well
